SPOON-FEEDING NO MORE

The youth of today is radical, tough, and vocal; hungry for change. With thousands of young people hitting the streets with their battle cry, some question if it is moral for the youth especially students to raise their placards and scream for justice?

"But they're just children!", "They don't know what they're saying!", "The youth doesn't know anything." --These are the words we often hear from people. But what do they know? Aside from closing their eyes and covering their ears, opening their mouth while government feed them with lies and false promises.

According to Glenda Gloria, Managing Editor of Online news platform Rappler, the world reckons the youth to act -- whether through a global climate strike, or a student revolt in Cairo against a dictatorship, or the stunning street protest in Hong Kong, or the past #FeesMustFall campaign in South Africa.

The real problem here is not on the youth taking action, but to the elders, the ones that teaches us, the elders who have gone through ages but are still illiterate and close-minded enough to see the faults of society. We're all young once, the short-fused years when we got easily triggered by big and small things, or by what we thought is bad and wrong. This constant low boiling point also allowed us to to demand a better world from our elders, and take action when they would not listen.

They often call out young people because they always see us as a threat; a grenade without a pen, a time bomb that could explode out of nowhere and they're scared to see that happen, they're threatened because they themselves don't know what will happen, but even if they don't know what will happen, they think they are being destroyed and that it will end up in chaos, but it will not.
